Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to accessible information and an inclusive digital experience.
Version 1.0 — August 2026
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
SSB Defence is a trade name used by StartSmartBusiness.com Inc. We are committed to providing a website, information and services that are usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities.
Accessibility is part of responsible technology design. Our objective is to identify and reduce barriers while maintaining a secure, practical and effective website experience.
2. Accessibility Standards
SSB Defence seeks to design and maintain its public website with recognized accessibility principles and standards in mind. Where applicable, we seek to support requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and Ontario's Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
We also seek to follow relevant Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) principles when designing, reviewing and updating website content and functionality.
3. Website Accessibility
- Clear and consistent page structure.
- Meaningful headings and content organization.
- Readable typography and appropriate colour contrast.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation where reasonably possible.
- Descriptive links and controls.
- Alternative text for meaningful images.
- Form labels and instructions.
- Responsive layouts for different screen sizes and devices.
- Compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies where reasonably practicable.
4. Documents and Downloadable Resources
We seek to design newly published resources with readability and accessibility in mind. However, the accessibility of individual PDF, Word or other document formats may vary depending on the document, software and assistive technology being used.
If you experience difficulty accessing one of our publications, please contact us. Where reasonably practicable, we will work with you to provide the information in an alternate accessible format or through an appropriate communication support.
5. Forms and Assessments
We seek to make website contact, consultation and assessment forms understandable and usable. Security technologies may also be used to protect forms against automated abuse and malicious activity.
If an accessibility or security feature prevents you from completing a form, please contact us by email so that we can provide another reasonable method of communication: Email SSB Defence.
Please do not send passwords, credentials or sensitive system-security information through normal email unless an appropriate secure method has first been established.
6. Accessible Formats and Communication Supports
If information available through SSB Defence is not accessible to you, you may request an alternate format or communication support. We will work with the individual requesting assistance to determine a suitable approach based on the nature of the information, the individual's accessibility needs, available technology and formats, and what is reasonably practicable.
7. Third-Party Services
The website may use or link to third-party technologies and services. We may not control the accessibility of third-party websites or services. Where a third-party service creates a significant accessibility barrier within an SSB Defence-controlled process, we will seek to evaluate reasonable alternatives or accommodations where practicable.
8. Known Limitations
Despite reasonable efforts, some website content, older documents, third-party components or technologies may not fully meet every accessibility need or standard. Where a barrier cannot reasonably or technically be removed immediately, we will seek to provide the information or service through another appropriate method where practicable.
9. Reporting an Accessibility Barrier
If you experience difficulty accessing a webpage, navigation, form, downloadable guide, document, website feature or information provided by SSB Defence, please let us know. It is helpful if you identify the page or feature involved, the general nature of the problem and the format or accommodation that would help, if known.
You are not required to provide information about a disability beyond what is reasonably necessary to help us understand and address the accessibility request.
10. Accessibility Feedback and Contact
Accessibility questions, requests and feedback may be directed to:
